During the second quarter of 2022, the top 5 news and magazines applications on the Android platform in Brazil demonstrated varied performance in terms of downloads and active users. Here’s a closer look at their trends, based on data from Sensor Tower.

Opera News: breaking & local saw its weekly downloads fluctuate, starting strong with 162K downloads at the end of March and experiencing a slight dip mid-quarter before stabilizing around 123K by the end of June. Active users also showed a gradual decrease from 593K at the start to around 495K by the end of the quarter.

Local News - Latest & Smart exhibited significant growth in weekly downloads, peaking at nearly 56K in the last week of April before stabilizing at approximately 35K by the end of June. Active users mirrored this growth, starting at just 6.8K in late March and rising to 153K by the end of the quarter.

Breaking News: Local & Alerts experienced varied download numbers, peaking at 47K in early May but dropping to around 13.5K by the end of June. Active users showed a similar trend, starting at 485K and ending the quarter with approximately 417K.
